TAT Prepares for the 8th Thailand Tourism Awards 2010
The Tourism Authority of Thailand will host the 8th Thailand Tourism Awards 2010 to encourage business owners across the country to put in their best efforts into improving tourism standards.
Mr. Noppadol Phakphod, Director of Tourism Development office said, “The purpose of the Thailand Tourism Awards is to persuade business owners to develop their businesses so that Thailand can be in line with world standards. The awards will encourage the owners to offer only quality services to their customers which will help build up potential marketing channels.”
“Those companies who receive awards will be willing to maintain their high standards and other companies will want to compete to be up to that level. Our awards are also internationally accepted by foreigners. When they come to Thailand and they see that many businesses have been recognized by TAT they will know that the company is sure to offer excellent service which will benefit Thailand's good reputation,” added Mr. Noppadol.
The award is divided into five categories with the best location, best accommodation, an institution that is best at supporting and developing tourism, best tourism package and best health tourism.
That are four factors that will be used when judging which are, how environmentally friendly it is, how much it reflects Thai tradition, the involvement of the locals and how it affects the community.
Mr. Wiwatchai Boonyapuck, Officer of the Tourism Development Office said, “The judges will be those who are experienced in tourism. They will be executives from both private and the governmental sectors. Those who won the awards will get advertising from TAT for one year as well.”
Those who are interested can send in their work from now until January 15. The winners will be announced on September 27 which falls on the World Tourism Day. For more information contact 02 250 5500 ext. 4495-4498.
