Thailand’s First Hybrid Car Unveiled in Pattaya
The Eastern Seaboard is leading Thailand in manufacturing the first hybrid car for sale to the public. Assembled at the Toyota Motor Company plant here in the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate the new car will deal with the current environmental crisis by offering an alternative energy choice for drivers and spur the economy by increasing manufacturing output at the plant.
In July the Toyota Motor Company spokesman said “The Toyota Camry Hybrid was introduced as “a vehicle for the future” since it has been developed to achieve improved fuel economy and reduced emissions while delivering an even more distinctive driving performance.”
He added, “The Camry Hybrid will be officially launched in late July where those interested can express their wishes to experience the ownership of such prestigious vehicle at the 120 Toyota dealers nationwide.”
Toyota Motor Company expects to reach 1,000 units per month in sales within 2010. The latest Camry Hybrid is only about a 100,000 baht more expensive than the normal Camry which runs on gasoline, he said.
The Minister of Industry, the Chairman of the Nation newspaper and the Managing Director of the Pattaya Times, joined Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome, former MP Chanyut Hengtrakool and other Pattaya dignitaries to support Toyota Motor Company in its debuting of Thailand’s first alternative energy saving automobile, the Camry Hybrid. The unveiling was at a seminar on green energy held in Pattaya at the Dusit Thani Resort.
