In November a US ship and a US submarine paid R&R visits to our shores.

The USS Decatur DDG 73 paid a visit to Pattaya for the first time. However, the ship is no newcomer to Thailand as Phuket has been a previous port of call. The ship is part of the Aircraft Carrier USS Reagan Battle Group. The USS City of Corpus Christi submarine also visited our shores for the first time and is the first submarine to visit, since the USS Honolulu came in 2006. The Navy League of the United States Eastern Seaboard Council Thailand pulled out all stops to make the visitors feel at home while they were in Pattaya.

“We are especially proud to have them come for an R&R and we tried to make their stay most enjoyable,” said Mr. Peter Thorand, President of the Navy League of the United States Eastern Seaboard Council Thailand.

A welcome party for the two ships was held in conjunction with the 234th birthday celebration of the Navy. The event was held at Mr. Bernhard’s luxurious home at the Majestic Residence. Catering was provided by the Marriot Resort and Spa, Pattaya. Those in attendance all agreed that the party was unforgettable.
