Pattaya Times Newspaper Receives Top Media Award

The annual Eastern Mass Media Association awards were announced with the Governor of Chonburi and Vittaya Khunplume the Chairman of Chonburi Council and Senator Surchai Chaitrakulthong in attendance. The Pattaya Times newspaper was selected from all media members working in TV, radio and publishing of newspapers and magazines in Thai and English as the best of all media in the Eastern Seaboard as informative and promoting Chonburi and the other Eastern Provinces in a positive light thereby helping to boast tourism and the image of the area.

The award was presented to Pattaya Times Media Corporaton, Co., Ltd. Managing Director, American Drew Noyes, by Chonburi’s only national Senator, Senator Surchai Chaitrakulthong who said, “During trying economic times it is important to have such a fine newspaper with international appeal promoting the region in such a positive way and providing readers with News They Can Use.”

Former Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sontaya Kunplome said, “When we are introducing foreign businessmen to Chonburi Province for possible investments in the port area, the industrial estates or a major hotel project it is important that they read the local newspaper to get a
flavor for the area. Having a positive newspaper which shows current events and attractions, all the cultural possibilities and is informative on the local level is a big help to us in order to convince investors to want live or be based here. Other newspapers that focus primarily on crime, accidents and the negative are not helpful.”

Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Niti Kongrut said, “Pattaya Times is a positive newspaper, good for tourism and insightful for local people because it has news they can use to enrich their lives here. The region offers so many fun and educational opportunities. The award was given for the best of all media at promoting the region out of all publications in any language including cable TV programming and radio.
