Pattaya’s building owners are asked to assist in property inspections towards enforcement of legal requirements for building previously inspected last year.

The City of Pattaya officials are currently, albeit with some hesitancy, proceeding to inspect buildings that were already inspected by the inspectors in the last year in order to ascertain whether they were properly inspected following the law or not. This allows officials to set up controls to keep the work of the inspectors within the proper legal standards. This is being done to ensure the safety of general population while using the buildings. There is a request to all the residents of Pattaya to cooperate with the public staff in this endeavor.

In Pattaya City Hall, at the City Council meeting on December 16, the council passed a bill for Pattaya City connected with the Royal Building Code Manual, 1979.

This special meeting was led by Mr. Thaweech Chay sawangs and Mayor Kunplome, and attended all Pattaya City’s administrators, the city councilors and the head of the local government’s workers.

In the meeting, there was a discussion about Pattaya’s building code regulations with regards to the use of land in Pattaya including topics such as sub-division of land, demarcation of no-building space, and rezoning of certain building types within the region around Pattaya City.
“The Royal Building Code Manual 1979” with additional corrections from the “The Royal Building Code Manual (3rd Edition) 2005,” established that owners of buildings must perform inspections by having inspectors check all the different trades people’s work to ensure that proper procedures have been followed in all disciplines, in order to create safety in the building.

Mr. Bunleu Goolawanich, a member of Pattaya’s City Council, proposed that buildings holding retailers and wholesalers should be built with a proper set-back from the road. By keeping land between the building and the road in front of the building clear, deliveries and pickups can be parked on the said land without causing any traffic congestion, he said.

After having discussed many important safety points, the assembly voted in favor the said bill, then it was passed on to be presented to Chonburi provincial governor for the next level of approval.
