PLANNING MEETING AT CITY HALL

Wittaya Yensabai 31.12.2008 19:30
PLANNING MEETING AT CITY HALL - Pattaya - Meeting - City Hall - Education - Traffic - Crime - Koh Larn Island - Itthiphol Kunplome

Broad Ranging Topics Discussed

A large number of Thailand’s leading government and semi-government officials, together with Pattaya City Hall officers and other local experts met at Pattaya City Hall for a long discussion on the future planning and development of the greater Pattaya City region. Water supplies, education, traffic and crime suppression was high on the agenda, but so was the future development of Koh Larn Island. Local residents are in favor of the ‘status quo,’ but government officials from afar can see that changes is inevitable, and wants to see controlled development.

The suggestion of requiring the residents of Koh Larn to pay approximately three times more for water when a piped water supply was completed for the island, met with very vocal opposition from the Koh Larn representatives at this meeting.

However, Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome did an excellent job of mediating between all of the parties concerned, so that a formalized plan could be made, and stated that he was not in favor of such price discrimination.
