Teams prepare for Thai Premier League 2010
The popularity of Thai football has drawn in the attention of both Thais and foreigners. Last year as well as this year the premier league received many spectators. Many teams are now preparing for the upcoming competition in March 2010.
Dr. Rawit Yamboonruin, President of the Thai Premier League said, “The coach that will train the players in the 16 teams that will compete in the Premier league must be at the A license level only following the rule set out by AFC. The Football Club also has plans to open two A license courses this December and February. For coaches that are already in B license level can also take the A license level course as well. For those coaches with C level license must take the B level license first before taking the A level license.”
As for the progress of TTM Samut Sakhon, they will join with the Pijit province to become TTM Pijit in the season. Mr. Anucha Kaduangdech, the team manager said, “We have been recruiting some new players and will dismiss some players as well. We want to have the best team as possible.”
The Thai Premier League fever is so big that even some politicians are taking an interest in it. Some politicians are buying the teams such as Mr. Nawin Chitchorb who recently bought TOT Burirum. He is now the president of the team which gained some negative feedback.
Thai Premier League will now set up a new rule about not allowing politicians to become managers of any football team fearing that the popularity of the league will decrease once these wealthy politicians are bored with their teams.
