Deputy Mayor of Pattaya Wuttisak Rermkitjakarn along with Pattaya City members and officers from the Public Works Office visited the Wong Amart beach to investigate the concrete barrier that is used to block beach water from eroding the sand and discovered that many parts of the concrete were damaged. They are now looking for a professional designer to find a solution to fix the problem.

The Deputy Mayor said, “The concrete barrier along the Wong Amart beach from Naklua soi 16 to 18/2 is about 1.5 kilometers long.Currently some parts of the barrier have been damaged we believe because of the salt in the sea water. It was constucted in 2004 and has never been maintained or checked . If we do not do something about it there will be problems with the sewage pipes that are planted under the concrete barriers and sewage water may enter the sea. Without a fully functioning concrete barrier, the sea water will erode the sand and we will be left with little beach area.”

“We must find professional experts to help us design a new concrete barrier that can handle the salty water. We need to fix the problem within one year” he added.
