Demolishion Team Moves in on Squatters
In accordance with law Pattaya Mayor’s Secretary Chutiphon Kamolnark together with city officials recently decided that eight of the buildings located next to the beach on Naklua Soi 12 built on public land were to be removed after previous warnings had been ignored.
As Pattaya City Officials along with demolishion workers prepared to remove the buildings many angry locals complained heatedly and refused to move out of the way, blocking the removal team. They complained that they have been living there for over 10 years and that the city was being unfair. Pattaya Mayor’s Secretary Mr. Chutiphon then decided to delay the removal to prevent further clashes fearing that someone would get hurt.
The officials then explained to the locals that the reason for the removal was that they had built on public land that was never meant to be built on and that they would now give them more time to relocate. They also reminded the locals that they have been given several warnings previously but no action had been taken.
