Overview of the Obama Administration Positions of Power

Wittaya Yensabai 15.01.2009 20:30

On January 7th the US Senate was seated with all but two of the 100 Senators in place. Presidentelect Obama has calculated the people who will best serve the USA in helping the world out of the looming fnancial crisis and has made his cabinet appointments.

However,  the democratic system in place in America is more complicated and the intricacies are rarely reported.  The USA more  than  any  other  single  country is made up of former citizens of every country and has fnancial, social and hereditary roots in all countries.

Therefore, there need to be divisions within  the  cabinet which  look  after more specifc interests.

The  world  will  be  watching closely the people who will be leading  the  Obama Administration  and the  priority  of  the  work  scheduled after  the  Presidential  Inauguration on January 20th inWashington, D.C.

The  Transition  Project,  created  and overseen by Barrack Obama personally, is responsible for overseeing the appointments of a new White House staff  and  members  of  the  Cabinet.

The  system  is often more  important than the people and the mistakes that are made more than 90 percent of the time have to do with a poor system in any organization.

Below  is  the  system  in  place  in the Obama administration.  The people are important, but the system and accountability,  clarity  of  mission, duties  and  position  of  power  of  the subcabinet  are  essential  for  good governess.

The Cabinet is made up of the Vice President,  the White House Chief of Staff, and the Secretaries of each of the 15 executive departments:
Department of Agriculture
Department of Commerce
Department of Defense
Department of Education
Department of Energy
Department of Health  and Human Services
Department of Homeland Security
Department of Housing and  Urban Development
Department of the Interior
Department of Justice
Department of Labor
Department of State
Department of Transportation
Department of the Treasury
Department of Veterans Affairs

The Cabinet also includes:
Office of Management and  Budget
Environmental Protection Agency
United States Trade Representative
Offce of National Drug ControlPolicy

In addition to selecting new Cabinet members, an entirely new staff will  be  chosen  to  lead  the  offces within  the Executive Offce of  the President. These offces include:
Council of Economic Advisers
Council of Environmental Quality
National Security Council
Office of Administration
Office of Management and Budget
Office of National Drug Control Policy
Office of Science and Technology Policy
President’s Foreign Intelligence  Advisory Board
United States Trade Representative

There are also many offces within the White House Office that will be flled  with  new  personnel.  These include:
Domestic Policy Council
Homeland Security Council
National Economic Council
Office of FaithBased and  Community Initiatives
Office of the First Lady
Office of National AIDS Policy
Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Boards
USA Freedom Corps
White House Fellows Office
White House Military

Office  each  of  these  offices  can and will  have  an  effect  on America and the world.  Thailand will benefit  with trade, defense, drug control and many other offices which will budget funding  and  support  for  America’s strongest ally in South East Asia.
