Great international events held in Pattaya allow people to really see all that Pattaya has to offer.



Recently the PTT Pattaya Open 2009 was held and female tennis players spent their leisure time participating in such Pattaya social activities as planting trees in order to support the Global Warming Campaign and providing lunch for the homeless boys who have been sexually abused.

 

On February 09   Pattaya Mayor Mr. Itthiphol  Kunplome  along  with  the woman tennis players  Wozniacki Caroline, Rodionova Anastasia, Datekrumm Kimiko, and Nakano Yumi joined with Pattaya City  officials  to  plant  trees  in front of the Pattaya Indoor Sport Club.

 

Before the finals the woman tennis players, led by Tammy Tannasukan, Ms. Zvonareva Vera (the 1st ranked player in this tournament from Russia), and Ms. Wozniacki Caroline (the 2nd ranked player in this tournament from Denmark) provided lunch  for  the children and donated  sport  equipment  and money  for the Child  Protection  and Development Center. They were warmly welcomed by

Mr. Supakorn Nocha, Director of Child Protection and Development Center, and thirty-one children in the center. Mr. Supakorn  revealed  that  due  to the  current  economic  downturn  social problems  have  significantly  increased. These problems cause the children to be at risk for being victim in the dangerous illegal gangs such as Human Trafficking gang, drugs and other heinous acts.

 

The  international pro  tennis players learned  the Child  Protection  and Development  Center was  established  in order to assist those children, because they could be one of the serious social problems  in  the  future  if  they  don’t have anybody to assist them now.

 

The Child Information Center is especially for the children who used to be sexually abused which most of them are 8 to18 years-old and live in Pattaya and neighboring areas, some of them follow their parent to work here.

The players giving the children nutritious meals.


 The  tennis stars were glad  to hear center  assists  children  by  providing an education and career  training which  emphasizes  agricultural  and sufficient  economic  concepts.  This project is done in order to return the good human source back to regular society.  It is associated by Pattaya Social Welfare Department, Pattaya Police Station, and other associated organizations.

Pattaya Mayor Mr. Itthiphol Kunplome was not afraid to get his hands dirty and helped plant trees with tennis stars.


Furthermore,  the  tennis  players have  also made  an  additional donation  with  some  money  for  Pattaya Child  Protection  and  Development Center, and another 10,000 Baht was donated by Tammy Tanasukarn,  including  sport  equipments  such  as footballs,  badminton  rackets,  and shuttlecocks.  The sport equipment donation was done in order to assist the children, for them to be healthy both physically and mentality.
