On 11 February Mr. Mai Chaiyanit Mayor of the Nongprue Municipality was a chairman for the opening ceremony for the sports day at the Redemptorist Center for the Blind. This annual event was established to make sure those students at the center get healthy from exercise and to hopefully learn sportsmanship.



Not only that, the purpose of this sports day was also give students at the Center  a  public  event  in which they can participate  in. Mrs. Aurora Sribuapun, principle of the Redemptorist Center for the Blind and students were excited to attend.

The sports day at the Redemptorist Center for the Blind will help the students practice and specialize in what they are good at and maybe one day they will be able to compete in national events. The sports competition included soccer, rope skipping, sprint relays, 100m sprint, traditional Thai  walk  race,  and  swimming.  In addition, there were also live performances by the students and aerobics exercise demonstration.

The Redemptorist Center for  the Blind has been opened  for 22 years with  the  objectives  of  helping  the blind  community  and  giving  them opportunities.  There they will be given education just like everywhere else. They will also be taught the social norms and how to behave in the today’s society.  After the students graduate, most of them usually get a reasonable job and some even be-come international athletes.
