Artificial rain center decreases drought in eastern provinces
Mr. Tawee Karnjana, director of this artificial rain facility (eastern region) located at the Uttapao Naval Airbase in Banchang, Rayong said, “This year is expected to be drier than last year so we want to speed up our artificial rain process starting from February 16. We have realized that it has not been raining for awhile and we have experienced an early winter so farmers in the eastern region are suffering from serious drought.”
Karnjana also said, “We have just received a letter from the governor of Chonburi supporting our request in speeding up the production of artificial rain. The farmers who are facing severe water shortages are mainly from the Eastern provinces of Koh Srichang, Bortong, Nongyai, and Koh Jun. We have just received two more ‘Porter’ planes - one Casa plane and one Cessna plane - to help our artificial rain distribution. We now have 6 Porter planes all together. The areas that we will cover are Rayong, Chanthaburi, Chonburi, Trat, Sakaew, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao and Nakorn Nayok.”
Mr. Tawee Karnjana, director of this artificial rain facility (eastern region).
Karnjana told Pattaya Times reporters that, “After studying the weather conditions we have realized that Chanthaburi is a very humid province, which is perfect for making artificial rain. If we start manufacturing artificial rain in Chanthaburi, we will see precipitation results in desired areas like Koh Srichang and other eastern provinces of Chonburi. We have tested a new rain making process that is better than the original. We will shoot the artificial rain chemicals into the clouds instead of flying planes into the clouds and spreading such chemicals by hand. This process is much safer for the pilot and is also relevantly cheaper.”
Artificial rain center number 6 in Rayong will start fabricating artificial rain from February 16 till the end of April in the hopes that it will help farmers in the eastern region.
