Traditional Handicraft Exhibition Held at Floating Markets
The Bangkok Traditional Handicraft Exhibition was opened at the popular Pattaya Floating Markets to assist in stimulating the local economy and importantly to increase awareness about conserving and maintaining rare and traditional handicraft skills.
Khun Tani Samartkrit, Vice Governor of Chonburi and honorable chairman of the event, officially opened the Bangkok Traditional Handicraft Exhibition at the Floating Markets together with Khun Manut Meepong, Manager of the Floating Markets, and Khun Anutchai Chunnitinun, Manager of the
Khun Samartkrit said he was delighted to see the wide variety and diversity of all the Thai handicrafts on display, but more than just looking at and purchasing the finished products, it was extremely interesting to observe the complicated processes involved in making many of the pieces.
He commented it was important to maintain Thai cultural artistic strengths especially for future generations
Khun Samartkrit went on to say that, “The crafts displayed at the exhibition were something that showcased some of the true Thai artistic qualities that are now famous around the world.”
Khun Chunnitinun made mention of the Floating Markets here in Pattaya and he considered it to be an extremely suitable venue for the exhibition which also allowed the public to view many of the production techniques involved.
