For those of you who are, like me, SF/Fantasy fans one of the great writers is the man above. At the moment there are four books in print of the series “A Song of Ice and Fire”.

They are:

A Game of Thrones, 1996; a Clash of Swords, 1998; a Storm of Swords, 2000; and a Feast of Crows, 2005. There are two more in the series, entitled; A Dance with Dragons and The Winds of Winter, but no publishing dates yet.

Martin writes with quite a bleak and off beat humor and the books are full of surprises. In the first book, I had one character down as the ultimate hero in the series, and in the next chapter he was executed. Expect the unexpected when you read this series. One character that you think is dead and gone comes back to life in the next book: a bit like Dirty Den in the Brit Soap “East enders”

I check on the internet to see if any more books by my favourite authors have been printed and I also browse Kinokuniya in Emporium and Siam Paragon whenever I am in BangkokThey also put a protective plastic cover on books you buy from them, a great service. For second-hand books, I go to Dasa Book Café just past Emporium near Soi 28, where you can browse and have a cake and coffee as well. There are of course a lot more bookshops in Bangkok.

I have also found copies in our local shops, i.e. Canterbury Tales, Pattaya Beach Books and also J&K Books.

Good hunting.
