This year’s Miss Thailand Universe winner was 23-year-old Miss Chutima Durongdetch from Bangkok.



A panel of judges selected the most beautiful and talented contestants in a variety of categories with one ultimate winner to represent Thailand in Miss Universe 2009 contest which will be held in Bahamas this year.

 

Miss Chutima (known as Khaimook), was presented with a diamond crown, 1 million Baht cash prize and a new Toyota Camry and an array of other prizes. Khaimook, as she is affectionately known, has a Master’s Degree of Business Management from City University London.

 

Khaimook also won two other categories including, Miss Beautiful Skin, and Miss Popular earning her an extra 300,000 Baht.

 

In Thailand, there are many categories for contestants of beauty contests to win cash prizes. The 1st beautiful runner up was Miss Ruchiphan Phansrithum from Udon Thani Province. She is currently studying for a Strategic Marketing Degree at Bangkok University and was presented with 500,000 Baht. There were 3 more beautiful ladies chosen as runners up.

 

Miss Ketmori Rojanapradit, Miss Chonticha Sapphaiboonlert and Miss Ratakorn Sathiraboot. Each of these contestants was presented with a 200,000 Baht cash prize.

 

Miss Thai Natural Beauty winner was Miss Kannaporn Puangthong, a third year student of Mass Communication at Rangsit University who won 100,000 Baht. Miss Healthy Figure winner was Miss Chonticha Sapphaiboonlert a 4th year Mass Communication student at Bangkok International College. Her winnings amounted to 100,000 Baht.

 

Miss Slim Up winner was Miss Sirinphas Kongtrakarn, who has recently graduated from the Faculty of Mass Communication, Kasetsart University. She also received 100,000 Baht.

 

Miss Thailand Universe 2009, Khaimook, said that this had been the most fantastic experience of her entire life, and she would now be putting a lot hard work into preparing to represent Thailand in the Miss Universe 2009 contest this coming August , and hopes her representation will promote The Kingdom to the world.
