On their day off, leaders of the Pattaya Immigration Police and the editors of the Pattaya Times spent the morning together at Wat Nongprue. During the course of the morning many of the joint efforts of the Pattaya Times staff and the Immigration Police to inform the public in a positive way were discussed and the subject of the Foreign Police Volunteers (FPV) was also discussed.

The group reflected back to the time when Pattaya Times editors met in early January with Pattaya Immigration Police Colonel Anonnat Kamolrat who notified the Pattaya Times editors of the investigation into the backgrounds of the foreign police volunteers (FPV).

The Chief went on to say that he agreed with the Pattaya Times recent article about the FPV and that everyone he knows, including he, likes to read the Pattaya Times newspaper.

He said he agrees with the assessment printed in the Pattaya Times article that most of the foreign police volunteers are very helpful and good for the community; however, he will continue to check the backgrounds of volunteers as he has now done.

Chief Anonnat has a special interest in the police volunteers because he started the first ever group of foreigners to help the police in Koh Samui and Phuket when he was a leader of the Tourist Police.

Because of his assertive and productive abilities and his innovations in crime fighting the Chief was promoted to Deputy Secretary to the Supreme Commander of the entire Royal Thai Police which oversees regular police departments, highway police, special police, immigration police, tourist police and all other police departments.

Gradually, he asked for more experience as a leader of his own command and was appointed as the Superintendent and Chief of the Pattaya Immigration Police Bureau. Pattaya Times editors explained to the Chief and his deputy that many of the Foreign Police Volunteers (FPV) had called or emailed Pattaya Times to thank us for perusing this issue because none of them should have anything to hide if they want to wear a uniform issued by the Pattaya police. Some volunteers made reports of activity they thought was improper by a few of the members and said they will continue to investigate their own ranks to make sure that all members of the group serve the public interest. The Pattaya Times supports all foreigners who give service to the community.
