This was the book I was reading when I wrote my last review: is the third book in “The Inheritance” series and originally was intended to be the last. However, when Christopher looked at what he was writing, he realized that to complete the trilogy with one book it would have to be very large.

So, he decided to make the set into four books as this would also en-able him to expand on a lot of the things that had not been explained previously.

Thus we learn more about the bonding of dragons and riders, more about the background and history of the various races, i.e. Dwarves, Elves etc. and more how The King (the villain) took power and how he is so strong in magic.

We also learn of Dragon’s hearts, and the part they play in life and death, as well as the forging of Eragon’s new sword.

This book tidies up a lot of loose ends and is an excellent read, especially for those Fantasy fans. Look forward to the publication of the final book, and I hope Christopher has something else to follow this series.
