Tuesday, November 10 Stableford Competition at Khao Kheow Golf Course

For some of us, Khao Kheow is a very special course, since it is such a challenge to get a good score there. Two weeks prior, we had played KK, but it was a miserably slow day, with play taking six hours. This day, however, we were much luckier and the play was at normal speed, which I believe, must have helped the scores, which were considerably higher than two weeks ago.

As you may have heard, things are not too rosy in Detroit these days and Detroit is from whence our mate, Brian Gabe hales. Brian finds Pattaya just the perfect place to escape from the despondency of Detroit, where many people have lost their jobs and property prices have plunged. But Brian, always cheerful, was able to put all that behind himself this day and score a magnificent 42 pts, a full 6 points better than his handicap on a course where it is unusual for players to reach their handicap and indeed this day, Mashi was the only other golfer able to best his handicap. Our Captain mentioned that in hundreds of competitions held at KK, few players were able to meet their handicaps and less than a handful had ever reached 40 points like Brian did this day. So our hats are off to the Motown Man and let's hope that he takes his good luck, skill or whatever
back to Detroit with him.

Winners:
1. Brian Gabe, 42 pts
2. Mashi Kenata, 37 pts
3. Perry McNeely, 33 pts
4. Paul Brown, 31 pts
5. Peter Whitehead, 30 pts
