Active grenade found in a family’s trash can
A woman was digging through a trashcan in search for plastic bottles she could sell. Instead, to her surprise, she found an active grenade wrapped in a plastic bag. Fortunately, police came to the rescue.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Saneh Yotrungraung was informed that a woman found a fist-size grenade inside a family’s house trashcan located near Carrefour. The police and his team rushed to the scene. The grenade in question, later identified as an M26 grenade, was found plastered with a strip of red tape inside a black trash bag. The police quickly rounded the bomb with car tires to erect a safe area around the site, and called for more help from the explosive expert from Royal Thai Navy Bomb Disposal Team. They safely removed the grenade from the site.
Mrs. Dee Jamrert, 67, the woman who discovered the bomb said, “I live at the house right across the street from this trash can. I came out to look for plastic bottles, which I could sell. I was shocked to discover a grenade in a black trash bag. I quickly called the neighbors and they quickly called the police.”
The police assumed that the owner of the bomb wanted to get rid the bomb in fear that if the police found out he/she would be arrested because recently Pattaya police has been paying serious concentration to this matter.
