Pattaya approves 3.6 million Baht to stimulate local economy

Mr. Thawit Chaisawangwong, President of Pattaya City Council, presided over the second general meeting of 2009 to approve a stimulus budget of 3.6 million Baht to help boost tourism and restore Pattaya’s reputation as a leading tourist destination.



Mr. Wathena Chanwaranon said, “Pattaya is Thailand’s key tourist destination catering to both Thais and Foreigners. We have interesting activities as well as beautiful sight seeing places. We gross the third highest revenue of the country at 56 billion Baht per year however with the recent turn of events; our tourism economy has been severely affected, which will influence our earnings and the earnings

 

Chanwaranon continued, “To revive Pattaya’s economy we have developed a strategy to develop tourism and public relation efforts. The plan is short term, lasting six months and will cost 3.6 million Baht.”

 

Mr. Wuttipol Charoenphol, Head of Pattaya Administrative Office said, “The short term public relation effort will compromise of local as well as foreign media publicity that will last for six months. There will be a Pattaya Symbol Modeling competition organized to promote as well as instill Pattaya’s image in peoples’ minds. The promoters will have to organize a public relation campaign that broadcasts Pattaya as a world renowned tourist resort as well as interview public figures of the city.”

 

The Pattaya City Council approved the 3.6 million Baht stimulus budget for short-term public relation efforts seeing it as a necessity to help solve the current tourism crisis.
