Pattaya Immigration reveals its three-month report
Kamolrat revealed that, “The Pattaya Immigration Department has divided the immigration census system into three parts. The first part involves providing information on stay extension. In the last three months, 6,019 people requested for short stay extensions while 7,198 people requested for long stay extensions. The second part is concerned with protection and suppression. We arrested and deported 355 people in February, 293 people in March and 643 people from 1-25 April.”
Kamolrat further stated, “In addition, the Pattaya Immigration Department has also been offering other activities such as erecting a post office box where people can file complaints or report on any suspicious activities of an immigrant to help reduce the crime rate in Pattaya at
Kamolrat concluded by saying, “We will hold another seminar to teach hotel owners about guest online registration at the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya on May 19.”
Mr. Chanyut Hengtrakoon, Former Member of Parliament and Director of Immigration Department, discussed the ways in which the media can help publicize immigration information to tourists. Mr. Hengtrakoon feels that the local media is the best source of information for tourists as it targets residing tourists. He also stressed that Pattaya will need to take initiatives to publicize such information immediately to create a positive image especially in matters concerning safety.
