For those who are always looking to help the less fortunate, the Optimist International Club of Thailand, based in Pattaya, offers an exceptional opportunity to meet optimistic people and help children by joining the club as it launches its first essay contest for schoolchildren mid June.

The theme is "Where I see myself after My Education is Complete" and helps children plan the possibilities available to them in the future. Planning is not a strong point often in Thai culture. However, parents and teachers are more and more stressing that children should think about their future.

The Ministry of the Interior and the Education Department Region 3 will be asked to help implement the contest, which offers winners free education. The age groups are 8 to 12 years old and 13 to 18 years old and are open to all children in Banglamung, Sriracha and Sattahip.
