WBA heavyweight champ Nikolai Valuev.

Patrick, of Patrick’s Belgium Restaurant in Pattaya, emails “here we go again, what’s wrong with those Russians?” He’s not asking about assassinating a dissenter in London or cutting off the oil to Belarus. Sir Frog’s query is about Ruskies and the heavyweight division.

The immediate answer is either there’s something in the water or they are poster children for DuPont Chemical who’s slogan is , “Maker of better things for better living through chemistry.” Specifically Sir Frog was asking abut the canceled of the WBA (We Be Average) heavyweight title fight between two Ruskies in Finland. Little did he know that later Brit David Haye would act like a Ruskie and the heavyweight division would sink lower.

Valeuv-Chagaev Neyt.

WBA heavyweight champ Nikolai Valuev refused to take a “passive protection inoculation” 24 hours before he was to defend his title against Ruslan Chageav. That “passive protection” was against “infectious hepatitis” which challenger Ruslan Chageav didn’t have. Chageav had only “hepatitis antigen”. This same condition was present in April 2007 when Chageav and Valuev first fought. The Finnish Federation explained that they did not prohibit the fight, as first reported, but only wanted Nikolai Valuev to agree to the inoculation. Valuev refused. Chagaev’s promoter Square Ring ‘fav” Klaus-Peter called Valuev, “the biggest and heaviest heavyweight in the world and he is the biggest and heaviest coward in the world.”

Ever since the Ruskie’s have taken over the heavyweight division it’s been a Three Stooges Comedy. There is no legitimacy. This cancellation is a rather bad joke. There is though one begging question about this proposed match between two Russians in Finland. “What genus came up with the idea ?” Even a border line nincompoop knows that the only thing Finns hate more than running out of liquor before they pass out is any and all Russian whether they be boys, girls and declined to state.

Wlad Klitschko-Haye Kaput.

Heavyweight David Haye acting like all Ruskie heavy’s pulled out of his June 20 “mega fight” with IBF/ WBO Heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko. “Haye apparently suffered an undisclosed injury in training and wants six to eight weeks to recover.” It was either a hand or a back or maybe just a bad hair day. This just 10 days before the opening bell at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen this was assured of 60,000 in attendance and world wide TV audience. The event will go on. Klitschko wanted tattooed Mexican Chris Arreloa. Not going to happen as Arreloa’s promoter Dan “The Man” Goossen says, “Chris isn’t in the type of shape you need to be for fighting for the heavyweight championship of the world.” In stepped “not infected” Ruslan Chageav to insure that the June 20th fight goes on. The fight will now be for the IBF/ WBO/WBA heavy title.

This is just another nail in the heavyweight division coffin which has been doing a pretty good job of becoming irreverent. Buying a ticket for Klitschko-Haye and getting Klitschko-Tomato Can is like paying $200.00 per ticket to see Rod Stewart at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas only to show up and get Tom “Bleeding” Jones instead. There’s a bright side to the story. Pattaya Pal Vic “Did Ja” Cross vowed never to rise early on a Sunday morning after a Pattaya Saturday night to watch a heavyweight title fight again. Now “no problemo”.

Banda Stadium, Patong, Phuket, Thailand

WBC straw weight champion Oleydong Sithsamerchai (31-0,12)used his head to good advantage when  successfully defended against 105lb IBF champ Muhammed Rachman (62-8-5). “Accidental head butts” in rounds 7 and 11 rendered the challenger unable to continue so to the scorecard they went. In spite of losing 2 points Sithsamerchai scored a easy 116-101,105-103 twice. When an “accidental head butt” occurs under WBC rules the fighter not cut is penalized with the loss of a point. True fact. Some would claim there is no such thing as a “accidental headbutt”. Rachman said, “If I weren’t hurt, I could knockout Oleydong”. DAH!!!!!

Sawangdaendin Stadium, Sakhonnakorn, Thailand

For the 12th time featherweight Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo defended his ABCO title when he stopped Filipino Jonel Alivio (9-9-1)at 2:34 of the 11th round. Piriyapinyo has a nice record of 30 and naught with 16KO’s, he’s still young at 24 and now needs to step it up against better competition. He’s promoted by TSR friend Onesongchai.

On The Calendar June 26

At Hermann Neuberger Halle, Völklingen, Germany Yodsanan “#3K Battery” Nanthachai (58-3-1) is as accomplished as any boxer to come out of Thailand in a long time. He held the WBA Super featherweight title from April 2002 when he got a one sided decision over Lakvm Sim until he lost to Vicente Mosquera in Madison Square Garden in April 2005. There are no moral victories in boxing but he did put Mosquera on his “keister” for the first time. Mosquera would then lose the title to Edwin “The KO Machine” Valero in August of 2006. Since he lost the title “3 K” has gone 13 and 0 against inferior boxers. Now he steps it up by traveling to Germany to face Ruskie Sergey Sorokin (28-1-1). Sorokin’s win have come against boxers, with the exception of Emanuel “The Animal” Augustus, that not many have heard of.. This may be the chance for “3K” to climb back in the international spotlight. June 27th

At O2 Arena, London, England.. June 27

As most of the civilized world knows Amir Khan (20-1) was suppose to be the “next best thing” for those that sing “God Save the Queen” that don’t live in San Francisco. Khan stubbed his foot against Breidis Prescott getting KO’s in :54 seconds. He beat one time best-pound-for-pound Marco Antonio Barrera but there is doubt. Khan gets Andreas Kotelnik (31-2-1) who is set up to make Khan look good. He has little power with only 13 KO’s from 31 wins. Nice crowed at the O2 , nice payday for a fight that will prove nothing,.

At the Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA

While most boxing fans rank Manny Pacquiao as the best pound-for pound that’s only because Chris John (42-0-2) has fought 99% of his fights out of the spotlight. He made his first appearance before an America audience and national TV on the last day of February of this year. He was involved in WBA Bantam title fight against Rocky Juarez ((28-4-1). Juarez fought the best fight of his life and escaped with a draw. TRS had John ahead. All three judges had it 114 all. They meet again the 27th in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. Anyone that saw that fight could not help but be amazed with the ability, skill and heart of Indonesian Chris John. If Pacquiao is the best then mark John down as 1A. As the fights on HBO in the states folks in the Land of Smiles should be able to catch it Sunday morning June 28th. Vic “Did Ja” Cross should get up for this one.

Jeeves Time

Your Lordship a Nevada boxing judge recently ran for the Las Vegas City Council recently. He lost by 10 votes. His comment on election night? “That’s almost a tie.” No it’s a loss. A few days later he was informed that 18 votes were not counted. His comments? “I have to finish my taco.” Man has his priorities.

“Your Lordship you live a lot of the year in United States , “how is the economy doing ?”

“Jeeves let me put it this way. Today one share of General Motors stock is worth less than the 1977 Topps Bubble Gum Mexican Rookie NFL Card for Benny “I Keek a Touchdown” Ricardo.” Makes sense as Ricardo is still productive. Regardless bring on the lager, a good cigar and some good out country music because … Cheewit dee khrup”
