Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2009
Thailand’s biggest annual jazz festival is once again upon us in the form of Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2009. This yearly event is affiliated with Hua Hin District Office, TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand), Prachuab Kiri-Khan Provincial Administration and Hotelier’s Club and is being organized by Fatima Broadcasting International Co., Ltd. and Plus Five Co., Ltd.
This year’s jazz festival is themed ‘Hua Hin Green Jazz’ in order to celebrate HM The King’s achievement as a world-renowned accomplished jazz musician and to celebrate the 100th year of Hua Hin by urging participants to help reduce global warming by planting trees and collecting garbage off the coast of Hua Hin.
Khun Wilasini Chiwanont and Khun Rawiwan Chinda, Managing Directors of Plus Five Co., Ltd and Fatima Broadcasting International Co., Ltd. reported that, “We are honored to organize the biggest jazz showdown of the country which will leave spectators in awe of the events held. We have focused on improving the amenities and the overall organization of the festival including accommodation, food and beverage, traffic regulations and safety regulations for the spectators benefit. We have invited leading jazz musicians from Europe and Asia and have confirmed entertainers from England, Brazil, Denmark, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. From Thailand we have recruited the jazz cream of the crop Khun Tong Thewan, Khun Ko (Mr. Sax-man), Ford Lobchai, Infinity Band, Bangkok Connection Band, Doo-Baa-Doo Band, Gale Dela and Nui Wiriyapha to name a few. Thai and International Artists will be jamming together to orchestrate magical jazz fusions to surprise audiences from 12-14 June 4pm till midnight on both the Beach Stage, which is located near the Hua Hin beach, and the Jazz Royal Stage which is erected near the Phon King Phet public park.”

Chinda continued, “We have received extensive support in organizing this event from the public and private sectors of the country. The Deputy Governor of Prachuab Khiri-Khan has advised us to arrange this event in honor of HM The King who is fondly known worldwide as the ‘King of Jazz’. International and Thai artists will be celebrating his achievements and contributions to Jazz by playing his various compositions at the two-day festival. The idea of “Hua Hin Green Jazz” was conceptualized owing to the fact that every year after the conclusion of the event, audiences litter the beach and the stage areas with garbage such as glass bottles, plastic waste and aluminum cans. The Deputy Governor is planning to combat such pollutants by personally cleaning up the areas along with various jazz artists as well as planting more trees in such areas to help reduce global warming.”
