Chiang Mai Zoo's young panda celebrates its first month with a lot of activities.

Chiang Mai Zoo's young panda cub recently celebrated its first month of life with activities. Zoo officials performed rituals to appease the spirits for the cub's good health.

Chiang Mai Zoo held activities to celebrate the first month of Thailand's first domestically born panda. Director the Zoological Park Organization, Sopon Dumnui, said spiritual rituals would be performed as thanks for the panda's one month of life. A 100 pound cake has been created for today's occasion and children who were born today have been invited to take part in the joyous event.

Zoo officials stated that Lin Hui's panda cub continues to enjoy good health. Public viewings of Lin Hui will resume on 4 July, but viewings of the cub may have to wait until she is 5 months old. A definitive answer on the matter is pending evaluation from experts in China.

Visitation to Chiang Mai has increased by 50% since the cub was born, with predictions it will jump to 100% when she is made available for public viewing.
