ASEAN returns to Pattaya

Pattaya will be the venue to host another important Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) meeting called “Asean International Parliamentary Assembly.” (AIPA).



The conference will be held August 2-8 in Pattaya Thailand is the Chair for ASEAN this year and helps decide where ASEAN meetings are held and in which of the member countries This follows the 14th ASEAN Summit which was interrupted and finally cancelled by the red shirt political demonstration at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort and the successful 13th ASEAN Finance Minister’s meeting held days before at the Amari Orchid Resort and Tower.

 

The Thai government recently officially announced that they would host the 30th meeting of the AIPA, at the Royal Cliff Beach Re-sort Hotel in Pattaya. The deputy  Secretary General Sompol Wanikphan of the House of Representatives said this while inspecting the meeting venue in Pattaya.

 

The meeting will be attended by approximately 300 delegates, including parliament presidents and parliamentarians from eight member countries and will be observed by representatives of 12 countries.  All meeting preparations as well as securities have  been made for the meeting, Secretary General Wanikphan said.

 

During the meeting, the organizing committee will also take delegates to visit various tourist attractions in Pattaya in order to welcome them as well as create a positive image of Pattaya tourism worldwide.  Pattaya residents are asked to be cooperative and well-prepared in order to welcome all of them.

 

“Leave your red and yellow shirts at home,” said one local politician.
