Anthony Collier Associates Expands to Thailand
The Pattaya Times recently sat down with Mr. Anthony Collier, owner of Anthony Collier Associates, an English based architectural and interior design business, who shared his reasons for deciding to expand his business to Thailand.
Since the company was founded in 1980, with projects involving the leisure, housing and commercial areas, Mr. Collier has received many awards for his excellent work from the Sunday Times/Royal Fine Arts Commission, the Civic Trust and Northern Architectural Association and a national medal for ‘Good Design in Housing.’

Mr. Collier is married to Khun Sangduan Pangphairee, a former Thai flight attendant, who has served in the aviation division of the Royal Thai Police and is now a director and company secretary. He has been traveling back and forth from England to run his award winning business.
Mr. Collier said, “I realized that there is potentially a good demand for an English speaking architect in Thailand especially in the Eastern region. So, I decided to partner with Thai professionals and create a bilingual design company, called Anthony Collier Associates (Thailand) Company, Limited.”

“My intention is to generate a creative and imaginative company to cater to the demand and to help attract more investment locally; also helping to create and sustain work for local people,” he added.
Both of his companies offer “expertise in design for hotels and leisure industry projects, small and large scale housing developments, as well as, renovation work.”
Asked why he chose to settle in Thailand rather than the UK, he explained, “Pattaya is close to Suvarnabhumi Airport. So, I can fly back whenever I need to see clients in the UK. I like the culture in Thailand and I want my two daughters to grow up here.”
His daughters are currently attending an international school in Pattaya.
Mr. Collier says that he has been able to operate his UK business no matter where he is “with the help of modern technology like the much improved Internet and the online ability to link with most people, companies and authorities.”
His most recent project is a new large spa and functions facility at the Armathwaite Hall Hotel in the English Lake District. Mr. Collier’s intellectual designs even impressed Mr. Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of Great Britain. Mr. Brown visited the Armathwaite Hall Hotel and said that it was a “beautiful and inspiring place.”

Mr. Collier sees Pattaya as a great place to conduct business. He believes that Pattaya and Chonburi have great potential and hopes that his “artistic and design abilities” will contribute to making Thailand a prettier place.
