International Equestrian Competition to be Held in Pattaya
The event will feature three equestrian disciplines including Cross Country, Dressage and Show Jumping. The occasion will also serve to find talented players for the Thai National Eventing Team, which will compete in the FEI (International Federation for Equestrian Sport) South East Asian Championships 2009 to be held in February 2010; and the Guangzhou Asian Games.
The World Dressage Challenge aims to develop dressage in each country under the FEI. More than fifty competing countries are divided into eleven geographical zones, consisting of four to six countries each. The competition consists of five performance levels: Prix St. George; Advanced; Medium; Elementary and Preliminary. Each country uses the same set test for each level. Separate rankings are generated for each level in each country.
Individual and team competitions are held within each zone. Each zone is judged by a different Ground Jury consisting of two international FEI judges. This year, the Thailand Equestrian Federation will also use this competition as the final selection for the Thai National Team in Dressage Discipline for the upcoming FEI South East Asian Championships 2009.
This event was originated by Paul Weier, the legendary equestrian rider who flew here from Switzerland. Derby Show Jumping will be the Thai Polo Club’s way of recreating the Hamburg Derby Show, the famous German show, right here in Pattaya.
