Sara Malakul Lane:
The Pattaya Times recently had the opportunity to interview Thai star Sara Malakul Lane, who is currently on the path to Hollywood stardom.
The Guam born star is staying in the USA with her mother Tumptim Malakul, who is a royal descendant.
Sara filled us in about her life in the ‘industry.’ She took the plunge and decided to leave her English father and two brothers who are currently in Thailand to pursue Hollywood stardom.Sara has been a fixture in the
Thai entertainment scene since she was 14. She has starred in movies and TV series, graced magazine covers and strutted down the catwalk. So far, Sara has appeared in three movies for the US market, including Belly of the Beast with Steven Seagal. Two other movies are currently in pre-production. In addition, she’s done several commercials for Budweiser, Hybrid Fuel Cell and Yanna K, a fashion campaign for an LA based designer.

Sara loves all facets of the entertainment business, but says her favorite is “being in movies.”
Sara has been compared to Charlize Theron, but won’t let that go to her head. Even though she’s living the ‘life’ in LA, she’s still behaving like a respectful Thai girl.
“I try to stay away from the ‘industry scene’ as it involves a lot of partying and all the ‘Hollywood stereotypes.’ I’ve been lucky enough to have found a niche of people who are talented, creative and humble. We steer clear of the shiny stuff,” she said.
However, Sara loves life in Hollywood. “Everyday, I feel lucky I am being creative. Everyday something wonderful happens. I am very focused. I feel lucky that I have good people behind me doing the business side: negotiating, marketing and networking. All I have to do is be the best performer I can be,” she added.
Sara’s manager Mark Teitelbaum also manages superstar Megan Fox, star of the ‘Transformers’ movie.
Outside of her acting class, Sara has learned. “You have to do the work and be good at your craft.”
Unlike many typical Hollywood stars, Sara spends her day off with her friends, whom she met when she made her first movie, together with her mother. “Last weekend my mom and I cooked a Thai feast for everyone,” she said.
Sara and her mother have been traveling the world for the past fourteen years, from Europe to India to China; and now, the United States. Sara says her mom misses her dad, Alastair Lane, and her brothers.
“We all Skype every night and my dad will be flying out here soon,” she added.
So, is Sara really as happy in the USA as she was in Thailand?
“Yes, I do miss my family and friends, but they are all so supportive. I’m happy because I know I’m doing what I’m meant to be doing.”
Sara ‘can’t wait’ to visit Thailand during Christmas, as she is hoping for a family reunion with her uncle, who will be visiting from England.
Fans, who Sara refers to as her ‘Thai sisters and brothers,’ who can’t wait until Christmas can get updated information about Sara and keep track of her movements at www.saramalakulfanclub.com.
Sara’s message to her ‘brothers and sisters’ here in Thailand is, “Thank you for your love and support.”
