Which iconic American chain has 120 restaurants in 45 countries (at last count), serves 10 oz. bodacious burgers, molten spicy nachos, titanic salads, seriously seductive sandwiches and desserts so decadent as to satisfy the most hedonistic Sybarite? A few more clues: the walls drip with rock memorabilia,
the first branch was opened way back in 1971 London, the name comes from a Doors album entitled Morrison Hotel and it is definitely more of an experience than just a meal out? Unless you’ve been living with the Bedouin in the Sahara Desert for the last 20 years you’ll know the answer: the Hard Rock Café.Mick and I have visited many times and have always had a great evening. From the second you walk through their doors the servers do their utmost to ensure that you enjoy yourself; they smile, joke even entertain and yes, it’s infectious and yes, you do have a good time!
The food, as you would imagine, is American fare with a capital A. Portions are U.S.A. enormous and unless you have the appetite of King Kong, we recommend you share dishes. We started with the Jumbo Combo (B.450). A stacked platter is served over-flowing with onion rings, potato skins, tupelo chicken tenders, hickory smoked chicken wings, and Sante Fe spring rolls all accompanied by sour cream, barbeque and blue cheese sauces.

but their famous burgers and the first menu item that started this food phenomenon and introduced Londoners to the delights of authentic char-grilled meats. Big, succulent burgers arrived (they are medium-well cooked unless otherwise requested), topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, onion rings, lettuce, tomato and pickles encased in a big, buttered toasted bun plus French fries. Another favourite is the S.O.B. which has been basted with spicy chipotle pepper puree, hickory barbequed bacon and layered with cheese or the patriotic red, white and blue style laced and grilled with spicy buffalo sauce and Cajun seasoning. Beefy burger fans this is the place for you, they are sensational. Herbivores to not fret, HRC offer a burger fashioned from veggies and spices topped with Jack cheese, grilled zucchini, yellow squash and their signature salsa served in a toasted bung with lemon mayo and salad.If you like your beef in a tranche we spotted the 12 oz. Angus beef New York strip (B.820) or 8 oz. sirloin served with garlic butter, plus their celebrated fajitas (grilled chicken, beef or both) served with cheddar cheese, fresh guacamole, sour cream, shredded let
tuce on a hot flour tortilla from B.480. Fish lovers, you’re looked after too with an 8 oz fillet of grilled Alaskan sockeye salmon topped with Merlot-garlic butter and served with white cheddar smashed potatoes and fresh vegetables.In these recessionary times HRC now offer a multi-choice set menu for B.500 (commencing at 11.00 am through till 9.00 pm), happy hours from 4.00 pm till 7.00 pm and special nights with discounted meals and drinks. If you’ve still room for dessert, one not to be missed is the hot fudge sundae: vanilla ice cream and hot fudge on a brownie topped with walnuts, chocolate sprinkles, whipped cream and to crown it all – a cherry on top.
