Eastern Bikers make Soho Square their Bazaar venue of choice

Wittaya Yensabai 15.07.2009 20:30

London’s Soho maybe a hot venue for 1960’s nostalgic fans looking for the bizarre and the beautiful, but when it comes down to really hot spots for a sense of adventure, then it’s Soho Square in downtown Pattaya that the ‘ In crowd ‘ drift towards - certainly as far as the East Coast Bikers Club members are concerned.

Over the course of two days spanning the 2nd to the 4th of July , Soho Square in Walking Street was transformed into a purple haze of colors and musical mania that would delight even the most moon party extremists.

Spokesman for the organizers of the Thappraya Club chapter of biking enthusiasts, Arthid Jitramohung, proposed the venue a with a green theme of: “Love Your Environment “.

As many, share his concerns about increased global warming and the damage to the Living Planet that all living species share, Arthid exposed the views of all present in saying, “The future of the planets eco-system cannot be left merely in the hands of politicians and NGO institutions or corporate bodies with vested interests to solve our mutual problems occasioned by the global warming and ozone depletions, which in turn are causing meltdown of the arctic ice shelves. Everyone must play their part.”

Pattaya Mayor Ittiphol Kunplome who very graciously lent his support in officially opening the festival’s inauguration as potentially a regular event and just one of many initiatives to ensure equally shared these views that Pattaya remains top in people’s minds as a destination offering many diverse and interesting attractions other than just sun, sea and fun.

Throughout the two days of barmy musical mania and bizarre antics at the biker’s bazaar, locals, tourists and the community at large were treated to top performances from some of Thailand’s leading talent in the music world, namely Tom Dandee and Jack Sparrow who have a large following in Thailand and are well placed to promote the “Love Your Environment “message to youth and baby-boomers alike.

As Tom went onto explain, “Nowadays people forget to respect and take care of our planet that we all share together. If everyone grew just one plant, tree, fruit bush or flower bed we could all live cleaner, healthier and happier lives globally. “Frogs maybe small and rarely seen, but when they all sing in harmony you could probably hear them on the dark side of the moon. The frogs are now singing in Burma and in other troubled countries, it is time to listen to their song before it is too late, “he added.

Malee Huanna rounded off the evening to great applause from the hordes of dedicated Thai fans and tourists who will take home with them a very different experience to perhaps previous non-event weeks spent on the Costa’s of Europe or the sidewalks of London’s laded Soho that for sure.

As one tourist remarked in an advanced stage of possibly Singha beer induced euphoria, “Fun town maybe a bit dreary at times when its bucketing down with rain but there’s never a dull moment or lack of something to do, so the sun is always shining as bright as Thai smiles, and at only 40 baht a bottle, it beats London or Las Vegas at any time of the day - everyday.”
