Bank of Thailand (BoT) executive management has recently discussed the impact toward Thai economy after a new deadly virus A (H1N1) hard hit Thailand. The discussion meeting was held on Wednesday, July 12.

This discussion has been arranged in response to the rising number of infected patients in the country caused by virus as well as seeking the solution might occur in the near future. This is in order for Thailand banking businesses to be well prepared in dealing with the future unpredictable economical situations.

BoT Assistant Governor Kirk Vanikkul recently revealed that the central bank furnished an emergency plan for itself and its networking businesses last month, which could be implemented immediately.

The plan, however, has mapped out measures for BoT and other local financial institutions to cope with Influenza A in case it becomes too severe. This is in order for them to continue their functions smoothly.

Vanikkul said, “At present, the outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1) is still considered as not too severe, but BoT must be on guard and well prepare to cope with it in case of its pandemic situation becomes much serious.”
