2 National Games to be held in Chonburi

Chon Buri vice Governor Thani Samatkij revealed Chon Buri was selected and appointed to host the events 35 years ago in 1974. Once again, Chon Buri is honored to be selected as the hosting site for the 2 upcoming National Games; 39^th National Games, and 29th National Disabled Games. The 39th National Games will be held on this upcoming November 9-19 called “Chon Buri Games”, and the 29th National Disabled 1 will be held 3 weeks afterward, on December14-18 called “Muang Chon Games”. The competition events will be divided into 17 types of sports.

Chon Buri province has been developing itself continuously in many aspects of human resources, competition facilities, etc. Its development has been operating in excellent form and is completely supported by government and private organizations aoowing it to be visibly attractive and competitive. This has enabled Chon Buri to become outstandingly attractive to government officials and encouraged them to select Chonburi as many sport events have successfully promoted here. Besides, Chon Buri is apparently proved as an efficient site for hosting all type of sport competitions. Moreover, Chon Buri itself has many sport associations and clubs of Football and Sepak Takraw including more than 3,500 registered athletes in The Chon Buri Sport Association.

Apart from this, Chon Buri currently consists of 32,000 rooms to support visitors as well as international well-known tourism attractions and the mega-sized commercial port “Laem Chabang” located just half an hour away from Chon Buri and 15 minutes from Pattaya.

Chon Buri Sport Association Chairman Sontaya Khunplome revealed that Chon Buri was selected and appointed by the government after viewing Technical, Training and Competing venues. The preparation is preparing for 38 sports competitions listed by Sport Authority of Thailand in both international and traditional ones. The 3 competing venues will be prepared; one in Sriracha District, one is Chonburi province, and another one Pattaya. Regarding another important event to be followed, the 29th National Disabled Games on December 14- 18, 2010, the games will be dividing into 17 sport types. The event appointed Chon Buri to use its sports officials from 87 sports association in the province. Chon Buri Provincial Administrative Organization Chairman Mr. Vittaya Khunplome revealed that the spectators’ stand will be renovated, and the budget has already been ready prepared for that. Meanwhile, all traffic in the area will be managed in one-way direction .A parking lot for 100-1,000 cars will also be prepared behind the spectators’ stand.

Moreover, Chon Buri has appointed many local organizations to provide and support the games organizations concerning providing officials, locations, and any necessary facilities.

This is in order for Chon Buri residents to be part of organizing the games and for them to be proud of their own local games as well as to impress all visitors to come back and visit Chon Buri again in the future.
