UDD supporters across the country plan to collect a million signatures for their hero's petition.

A rally was held in Pattaya to discuss how the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) red-shirted opposition will collect signatures for a nationwide petition to help Taksin return.

Leaders of the UDD are collecting red-shirt party supporters’ signatures throughout the country to file a petition to the Thai Supreme Court.

The rally was one of many held around the country following Thaksins 60th birthday televised address to the people.

The Pattaya rally was held at the Day Night Hotel and attended by more than 500 core supporters.

The UDD core leaders addressed the main concerns they have about the Abhisit government. The main objective focused on urging red-shirt supporters throughout Thailand to fight for democracy, and to unite instead of fighting each other.

UDD leaders plan to collect one million signatures, which will be presented to the Supreme Court asking former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to be allowed home after three years in exile.

The seminar’s highlight occurred when Dr. Weng greeted supporters with a Thai-style “wai” before continuing his address. He explained that 9 Eastern and 14 Southern provinces have been assigned to Central Core Leaders of the UDD – Mr. Vorachai Hema, Mr. Somwahng Assarasri, and Mr. Aree Krainara. These 23 provinces will be divided into subgroups depending on core leader considerations but each group needs to have a representative at each seminar. This is in order to update concerns and find solutions.

Mr. Nattawut Saikua said the petition was not meant to disturb the peace of the Royal Family, but for Thaksin to be able to once again come back to Thailand.
