Everyone who has time should come to the party on Sunday evening August 16 to raise money with the Optimist Club of Thailand to help educate children, said Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome.

“It is a good cause and all support from the community during the budget reductions is appreciated,” the mayor added.

Mayor Kunplome will be the Guest of Honor along with former Member of Parliament Chanyute Hentrakool and others at the concert and dinner party to raise much-needed funds for Pattaya area schools at Chateau Dale Complex, Thappraya Road.

The Optimist International Club of Thailand has its headquarters in Pattaya and leaders met with government officials to see how the foreign community can help during the recent budget cuts and financial crisis.

Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol said, “The central government has cut our budget ten percent” and added that the idea to raise money for Pattaya schools was important and much needed.

The Optimist Club has already helped schools in Ubon Ratchathani and Srisaket and now will work closer to its home base to help children. The Charity Music Festival is the result of creative thinking on the parts of Siam Pacific Engineering, Co., Ltd. Managing Director Barry Sullivan, Swedtech Managing Director Danny Ljusnefors and P.A.P.P.A. Co., Ltd. Managing Director Drew Noyes, who also manages Pattaya Times Media Corp. All three men are members of Optimist.

The idea is to hold a fun musical event with great food and drink in the parking lot of Chateau Dale where Swedtech and Siam Pacific have their offices next to the News Café and Sun Dog restaurants.

Money from sponsorships and ticket sales of 300 baht each will be presented to the Mayor at the party. Everyone is invited to attend this big charity party. Tickets will be available at the door however; seating is limited to 600 guests so it is advisable to buy tickets, or books of 10 tickets for one table, in advance.

Tickets are available at any of the sponsor’s offices. Please look at the logos on this page to see the nearest ticket outlet. If you need help, call Drew Noyes, Optimist Club President at 084 111 7999 or email papa@ csloxinfo.com.

“So far we have commitments for about one million baht from sponsors alone. Then response to the Optimist Club plea for help with school improvements has been overwhelming, “said Mr. Sullivan who contributed 250,000 baht.

“The News Café has donated the entire buffet and it will be delicious,” said Mr. Ljusnefors.

Popular MC and singer Greg Carroll will host the musical event. Mr. Carroll said, “Tony’s Cool Spot’ band will feature the incomparable female vocal duo, ‘Sunrise n’ Sunset’ direct from the USA ‘The Blues Machine’ From the Blues Factory will feature the incredible, ‘Snowman’ and ‘Mary.’ Steve Lowery’, trumpet player and vocalist extraordinaire, also from USA, will be featured during the shows. And last but not least, the one and only, ‘Lam Morrisson’ ‘Guitar king of Thailand’ compliments of Dave at the Blues Factory.”

He added, “I guarantee this will be an amazing festival, of world class entertainment, with something for everyone. Make August 16th a special date on your calendar, come along between 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm enjoy the music and know you are helping a deserving cause.”
