August 11, Stableford Competition at Greenwood

Upon arrival at Tropical Bert's it was grand to behold some old faces which haven't been seen for some time -escapees from lovely summer weather in the Northern Hemisphere, no doubt. We trundled out to one of our favourite courses: Greenwood. The weather was fine and no threat at all. As such, Steve Hamstad was keen to stay with us. Completely out-of character, our Captain volunteered to be in the last group, but this day, the "last was not to be first".

There were lizards out all over the course this day and one group saw a green tree snake, so we can say it was almost an eventful outing. Our correspondent was joined in play by the tall New Englander with the long drive and the short temper - Doug Maiko and the ever tranquil Mick O'Meara. But this was not the day that we were to make it to the leader board.

When the scores came in, the golfers were shocked to see that Don Carmody had played so well, the result of which his handicap was ruthlessly cut 5 strokes! And since we started adjusting handicaps after scores over 39 points, this was the unkindest cut of all.
