An event was recently held at the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden with 30 elephants appearing in a parade to celebrate HM the Queen’s 77th birthday anniversary which is also Mother’s Day in Thailand. The theme of the event was “Love Mum – Plant trees to reduce Global Warming”

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden Managing Director Mr. Kampon Tansajja appointed Mrs. Pattayanan Khantisookphan, General Manger, to organize the celebratory event on the auspicious occasion of HM the Queen’s 77th birthday.

“Yohk” is painting a word “Love Mum”.

The event started with 30 elephants appearing in a parade followed by traditional Thai performances and the official respect paying ceremony in accordance with ancient Thai traditions. Then some selected elephants amazed the audience by offering flower garlands before a photograph of HM the Queen.

An amazing painting created by an elephant to educate the people on Global Warming and to love mother.

After this, the audiences were again amazed by three young elephants Trootchin aged eight; and Sangdao and Kwanmuang both aged six, who presented their mothers with flowers. Another highlight was a painting done by a six year old elephant, Yohk, who has been raised and trained by Mahout Bo Mookda. It took Yohk about 20 minutes to complete a beautiful painting, on a background of trees, to educate the audience about the problem of Global Warming and how planting trees can reduce this problem.
