New Thai Rice Farm and Villages at Floating Market, Pattaya
The Authentic Thai Rice Farm and One Tambon, One Product (OTOP) Village, was recently officially opened by Mr. Mai Chaiyanit at the Pattaya Floating Market. Also in attendance were Pattaya Deputy Mayor Mr. Veerawat Khakhay, TAT Director Mr. Nitti Kongkrut, and Mr. Manas Meepong of the Floating Market management.
An area of eight rai (about three and a half acres) has been carefully landscaped and is a fully operational Thai rice farm consisting of a paddy field and a clay house with historic farming tools all decorated in the traditional style of historic
Mr. Meepong said, “The Floating Market here in Pattaya is located on an approximately 62 rai [27 acres] surrounded by a lake. The entire area contains 114 shops selling the local products brought in from the province or region of the seller. Currently, the people throughout the world appear to pay much more attention to the environment. Therefore, the Floating Market management decided to respond to this tourism trend by arranging land to develop as an OTOP and Agricultural Village Display.”
