Caipirinhas are the traditional Brazilian party drinks made from distilled sugar cane liquor (called Cachaca) and limes muddled with ice so felt we should commence the proceedings with a tall glass of this famous cocktail. A selection of sauces and garlic bread is served on the table and after nibbling on these we were ready to move to the salad buffet.

The cost for this extraordinary meal is B.750 which includes the salad bar, (all you can eat) barbequed meats and fish plus an array of satisfying side dishes. An abundant selection of every conceivable salad is offered together with dressings, oils and pickles; try the Russian salad, or the ham and peas, beetroot, Kibutz or mixed vegetables with sausages or beef. So many choices. Resist the temptation to over-indulge as the serious eating will begin shortly.

You’ll notice a red and green “stop and go” disk on your table. A continual pageant of skewers will be offered if you display the green side, turn it over to red and the service will stop until you turn it back again for more of the fantastic barbequed items.

On to the main event; servers or passadors pass through the tables with sword-like rotisserie skewers speared with a large selection of char-grilled meats and fish; this is called rodizio service. I just loved the succulent pink duck, giant prawns, and salmon, crispy chicken and tender pork, while across the table Mick was tucking into the spicy sausages, juicy lamb, and tenderest of beef tenderloin and top side. The passadors also offer grilled hot pineapple which makes for a wonderful palate refreshener between courses. Hot accompaniments: pasta with meat sauce, hash potatoes with bacon, sautéed mushrooms, rice and mashed potatoes sit on their warming plates awaiting your selection.

Vegetarians are catered for with grilled vegetable skewers plus the salad bar and side dishes for B.500.

Every night of the week brings it’s own promotion; Monday it’s B.100 cocktails on the al fresco Deck Bar, Tuesdays bottomless caipirosca coktails for B.400 (7.30 pm till 11.30 pm), Wednesdays, half price churrascaria dinners, Thursday is “Chica’s Night” ladies pay only B.299 for the churrascaria dinner, Friday they offer free salsa lessons at 10.00 pm while Saturday nights herald the famous barbeque dinner with free flow of wine for B.888. Super Sundays are half price when you dine with friends and family with the added attraction of Mohito madness (B.90 per glass). The daily family special promotion invites all children under the age of 12 to eat on the house!
