The Chinese Forum, cooperative meeting between Chinese investors and the Thai Government aimed at stimulating the Thai economy, was recently held at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya. It was attended by members of executive management from both the Thai and Chinese governments: including the Thai Industry Minister, Chanchai Chairungrueng; the Minister of Information and Technology; Department Policewoman Second Lieutenant Ranongrak Suwanchawee; Deputy Minister of Commerce Alongkorn Ponlaboot and the Thai-Chinese Cultural Association Chairman, Mr. Lu Jun Qing.

They were warmly welcomed by the Secretary of the Board of Investment, Mrs. Atchaga Sriboonrueng- Brimble; Chonburi Governor Mr. Senee Chittakasem, and Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome. The meeting was attended by hundreds of executives. The main objective was to stimulate the Thai economy.

The Chinese Forum this year was organized as a follow-up to the Thai Investment Promotion Commission’s visit China, led by the Thai Industry Minster, last April, at which they had opened a China-based Thai Investment Department in Beijing, China. The opening attracted more than 200 companies in China and facilitated the introduction of Thai and Chinese investors. That trip created 5,600 million baht worth of trade as well as another 1,000 million baht in future trade. Many of the Chinese investors were interested in investing in Thai electronics, mechanics, agricultural products and the automobile's parts industries.

The Thai-Chinese Forum has, once again been held in Thailand with the cooperation of Thai and Chinese industry aiming to expand investment opportunities for both countries and to strengthen Thai-Chinese business relationships and networks. The event was well-supported and facilitated by 14 private and government organizations from both countries. This event was attended by 300 Chinese elite investors from China, Macau, Hong Kong and many other Chinese investors worldwide.

Security was provided by Chonburi Provincial Police, Area 2 using more than 100 police officers, both in official and plainclothes, from Pattaya and Banglamung police stations.
