Chonburi tourism related officials brainstorming to deal with low tourism season crisis.

A Chonburi Tourism Discussion Meeting was held at the beginning of August in order to brainstorm the current tourism situation in Chonburi, and to find solutions to deal with the current economic and political crisis that is affecting the tourism industry.

The meeting was chaired by Pichai Sonchange, chief of the Chonburi Tourism Club. The assembly was held at the Sanctuary of Truth's meeting hall.

Tourism Authority of Thailand Director, Nitti Kongkrut, said that the Pattaya tourism situation is currently stable. .The Flu situation hasn’t had much affect on Pattaya tourism. However, July, August, and the beginning of September are always the low season. On the positive side, Pattaya still has strong support from Indian and Russian tourists and this trend is increasing every year. In addition, hundreds of Pattaya tourism entrepreneurs and hotels have joined the “Travel All Day, Discount Whole Town” project, which will run until September to boost Pattaya tourism.

“The Chonburi Visa#4 Card” campaign provided by TAT is another strategy to boost tourist numbers. Card holders will get discounts from different shops and hotels ranging from 20 % to 40 %. The card is valid through the end of 2010.

“Interested tourists can contact any of the tourist service counters throughout Pattaya,” stated TAT Director Kongkrut. During the meeting, tourism members and TAT officials updated each other on the current situation, as well as looking, for ways to lure more tourists to Pattaya.
