Port Authority of Thailand welcomes the world’s biggest container ship

Zim Djibouti, a container ship constructed in South Korea with the capacity of 10,062 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) and will serve the Pacific Northwest Express (PNX) loop from East Asia to the North American West Coast


Deputy Transport Minister Kuakul Danchaiwijit and the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) recently welcomed the Zim Djibouti vessel on the beginning of August at the C1 and C2 Terminals of Laem Chabang Commercial Port.



The Zim Djibouti is a container ship constructed in South Korea with the capacity of 10,062 twenty foot equivalent units (TEU) and will serve the Pacific Northwest Express (PNX) loop from East Asia to the North American West Coast. The ship has the ability to carry 800 40 foot reefer boxes.

Deputy Minister of Thailand Transportation Mr. Kuakul Danchiwijit and the Executive Committee for the Port Authority of Thailand receive a photograph as a present in celebrating of the World biggest container's arrival at Laem Chabang Commercial Port.

The Executive Committee for the Port Authority of Thailand revealed that the government and the Ministry of Transportation have issued a development policy to develop Thailand’s Marine Transportation to be able to support economic expansion in the future. PAT has been developing all Thai ports, especially the Laem Chabang one continuously for many consecutive years, and plans to upgrade the Laem Chabang to be an international port in all aspects. The arrival of the world’s biggest container is a positive sign for Thai economic expansion and Thai Marine Transportation efficiency.
