The Final Destination

For sheer bloody inventiveness, the Final Destination horror series has few peers. Over the past three movies, you should have seen teens killed by gym equipment, sun beds, nail guns and even an airbag.

They may have been cheap and cheesy, but nobody could deny they were grimly amusing. In this, the final installment, the same gleeful sense of fun abounds as a group of teenagers narrowly escape an inferno at a car-racing track. With the Grim Reaper feeling cheated, it’s not long before the survivors are being merrily dispatched in a series of freak accidents, with an escalator, a malfunctioning carwash and an exploding cinema screen all used to gory effect. Although it brings nothing new to the series, the 3D is effective and there is a droll sense of humor at work, meaning anyone looking for gratuitously gruesome fun should make this their first destination.
