SCUBA diving site may open soon
Naval officers inspecting and checking through the location designated as a Safe Diving spot in Samaesarn Bay.
The Thai Royal First Fleet and Pattaya City have combined to study the possibility of opening the Samaesarn Bay as a safe diving spot on September 18, after an exploration team has carefully inspected the area.
It is planned to be open as an environment preservation tourism attraction in the near future. Tourists will be able to experience sea corals and the sunken boat Chutathip.
Admiral Vachira Prateepavanish, Deputy Chief of Staff, Royal First Fleet, revealed that the Royal First Fleet, in association with
Naval officers will select, explore and check the area thoroughly before announcing to the public the new Safe Diving Zone. This project was required as many tourists have had accidents while they were diving in this area.
"Apart from being announced as a Safe Diving Zone, the location, here is also the spot where the Chutaip fishing boat sank many years ago, and is abundant with coral. I will coordinate with other relevant organizations for support of necessary equipment to have this boat organized as a sea animals’ habitat and make it much more attractive for
divers." added Vachira.
