Young Financial Stars Discovered - Financial - KBANK - PTT PCL - SET - Competition - Punsak Vejanurug


The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has teamed up with Muang Thai Life Assurance Co., Ltd., PTT PCL and KBANK PCL to hold the Young Financial Star Competition 2009 (YFS 2009). This competition tests the ability of students to analyze securities and manage personal finance in hoping to discover new securities professionals to be employed in the capital market.



Prizes include scholarships and overseas educational trips worth over three million Baht in total.The contest is open to university students from juniors up to graduate students who are 25 years old and under. The students can be from any university across Thailand studying any major.

Khun Punsak Vejanurug, Executive Director of SET Market Education Center said, “This year is the seventh Young Financial Star Competition. Every contest we have discovers new talent who in the future can work in the capital market which is in line with the Capital Market Development  Fund mission. Even if the students do not win, they will still get the chance to learn new skills that can be useful to them and for future employers.”

Throughout the competition, competitors will be educated using fun activities and guided by specialists. This year,there is 3,275 applicants consisting of 2,018 students in the Planner group and 1,257 students in the Researcher group. So far, 320 students have passed the first round and will later receive training courses and participate in tests as well as other educational activities. The training courses will teach them about both careers in personal finance and securities analysis which will be held from October until January of next year.

The competition is also sponsored by the Capital Market Development Fund Foundation, CFA Society of Thailand, Market for Alternative Investment (mai), Securities Analysts Association (SAA), Thai Financial Planners Association (TFPA), and the Money Channel.
