The Thai Premier League was finally completed with the celebration of Muang Thong United as the champion in the League. In addition, Muang Thong was also recorded in the Thai Premier League’s history as the third consecutive year championship.



Chonburi FC finished as the runner-up, this is the second consecutive year for this position. Pattaya United FC this year was fortunate enough to have qualified for the next season, while the neighboring FC Sriracha was kicked out of the League judged by Head-to-Head rules.

The new coming teams qualified to participate in next season include Police Friend FC, Military FC, and Sri Saket FC.

Thai Premier League’s championship season was completed on Sunday, October 18 at the Bangkok’s Thunder Dome field at Muang Thong Thani. The final match was the game between Muang Thong United and BEC TERO in which, actually, Maung Thong had already been unofficially appointed as the champion after the match in the preceeding week.

The final match’s result ended as many fans had expected, Maung Thong won over BEC TERO 2 – 0, and were rewarded 10 million baht as the winning prize. Moreover, it was also recorded as the only team to have won in 3 consecutive years 3 different titles; Division 2 Champion in 2007, Division 1 Champion in 2008, and Thai Premier League Champion this year.

Regarding the 3 FCs in Chonburi, Chonburi FC, Sri Racha FC, and Pattaya United, Chonburi FC had a very good season and were awarded as the 1st runner-up including the 2 million baht winning prize. Pattaya United was good enough to qualify for the next season, while Sri Racha FC was unfortunately disqualified for the next season.

Songyod Klinsrisuk, Sriracha FC Coach, revealed that his players have done their best but still not good enough to be qualified. However, he added that he and his players would work and train harder in order to once again be qualified and selected to play in Thai Premier League.

Pattaya United, however, was fortunate enough in the last match playing against Chula United at Nongprue Municipality Field .

Pattaya won over the visiting team Chulu United with the score 2 – 1, holding 32 points, and finishing the season ranked 11th in the table.
