A PATTAYA THAI VACATION
Where is the “Giant Magnet” that draws people to Southeast Asia? Is it under the palaces of Cambodia’s Angkor War? Could it be found in the huge stone jaws in The Plain Of Jars of Laos? Maybe it is hidden deep in the underground tunnels of Vietnam’s DMZ (demilitarized zone) or could it be found under the giant reclining Buddha in Thailand? Where ever it is; it is powerful, for it draws millions each year to the shores of Southeast Asia.
The reasons Thailand ranks so high within the drawing power of the magnet are varied, but it does. The average tourist knows little about Thailand, yet millions visit each year. Within Thailand there are many hidden vacation sights, where guidance is needed for discovery. One of those hidden sights is the city of Pattaya.
The question is asked, “Why not visit Pattaya on your next vacation to Thailand?”
The full potential of Pattaya is yet to be discovered. Only a short
time ago it was a sleepy little fishing village that blossomed during the Vietnam War. Today, Pattaya has grown into a full size, exciting city, that has numerous attractions for the “thrill seeking” tourist. The welcome mat is extended, regardless of marital status, sexual orientation, race, color, or creed. Someone has written, “There is a life-time of adventure in Pattaya for you.”There are many reasons for tourists to choose Pattaya. This ocean front city has miles of sandy beaches, a tropical climate, and plenty of sunshine. Pattaya has hundreds of spacious, ocean-view hotel rooms, available at very reasonable rates. Pattaya is also an
International City, with many fine restaurants with menus to satisfy any taste and to fit any budget. It is an established fact that Pattaya has all the amenities to make any vacation a success. So What makes Pattaya different?
There is a distinguishable different in a Pattaya Thai vacation than all the others. The difference is in the way decisions are made. Pattaya Thais call it “Up To You.” It is a new revelation when the real meaning of Up To You is understood. It places decision making into a complete different realm.
Our thinking process has been dictated by others. Choices have been made for us, but not by us. We have been told what to think, how to think, and when to think it. Too many decisions have been based on what others might think. What will the family think, what will the neighbors say, or what will I say to the preacher? In Pattaya the “fear factor” in decision making is eliminated. No longer are there concerns of the local minister condemning souls to hell, or the nosey neighbor with spy glasses encountering every move.
Up to you decisions are around every corner. For example, when the tourist first decides to have a Thai Massage, will a masseur or a masseuse be chosen? The decision is up to the individual. When “a new comer” decides to enter a “boy bar” or a “girly bar,” or to “hang out" with gays or straights, in pattaya makes very little difference. If desired, one may choose an escort for a short time, or for the remainder of the vacation. What others think or say is not entered into the decision. The tourist has now entered the reality zone of what a Pattaya Thai vacation is all about.
This new found happiness is sometimes hard to control. A person must remember that with freedom comes responsibility and consequences. All visitors to Pattaya need to have knowledge of, and respect for the law.
There are many appropriate titles that could be given to Pattaya. Pattaya could easily be called, “ The Entertainment Capital Of Thailand,” even though, there are a few other cities with equivalent entertainment venues. Pattaya could also be called, “The Acceptance Capital Of The World,” for her tolerance of alternative lifestyles. What ever she is called, one thing is for certain. When the shadows of the evening fall upon, “The Village,” millions of lights turn on the eternal flames of happiness, as thousands of partygoers, go about their business of having fun.
Yours truly,
Mr. D
