Derek McCarick Receives M.B.E. Award for his Charitable Work

Derek McCarick, from England, has been living in Naklua, Pattaya, Thailand for over eight years. He was a taxi driver in London before he retired. Derek, 73, of Minister Isle of Sheppy, has raised almost 200,000 pounds for Leukemia research.



Derek received an M.B.E. (Member of the British Empire), the highest award one can receive from the Queen of England for his  charitable work. The award was presented to him at London’s Buckingham Palace in July. He has participated in the Pattaya Marathon four times to help raise 200,000 pounds for Leukemia and Breast Cancer research and has also donated 200,000 baht to Vanjjijay and Bangkok Hospitals.

Derek said, “I would like to say thank you to the Pattaya people for their general city and for helping me achieve the support for me to receive an award M.B.E. (Member of the British Empire).”
