Mayor Somporn from Phala District happily greeted the students at the Dek Dee

Recently, ‘Dek Dee’ (Good Child) Early Learning Center for three to five year olds, located on Ban Chang, celebrated its official opening.

Sue Wright, Dek Dee’s founder said, “Once Dek Dee finally opened, it was like a dream come true.”

Dek Dee School was created on a charitable basis with donations from the Pattaya International Ladies Club and the Jesters. It opened in April with 45 students. So far, six of these students have received sponsorship. Dek Dee offers children whose parents are busy at work the opportunity to learn and play in a safe and friendly environment.

The opening ceremony started off with a traditional Thai blessing from nine monks. The event was attended by the happy students and  their parents, as well as, member from PILC and the Rayong Ladies Circle. Other guests included Mayor Somporn from Phala District, Woody from Jesters, Scott and senior IB students from St Andrews International School.

After the blessing from the monks, the children showed their talents by performing traditional Thai dancing.

Gilliam Thom gave a lovely welcome speech and introduced the good-hearted individuals who have made the school a success, including the manager of Dek Dee, Khun Porn, the teacher, Khun Buhn, as well as, the assistants and the cook.

Each child received a small gift from the mayor, who cut the ribbon to declare ‘Dek Dee’ officially opened.

The celebration concluded with a delicious lunch provided by Khun Porn and fresh fruits donated by the district nurse.
